Part of the reason it is so challenging to understand food labels is the vast amount of information that is available to consumers. The internet is a fantastic resource, but not everything you read here is necessarily true or accurate. When looking for sources of information regarding food and agriculture products, it’s recommended to refer to regulatory bodies or scientific resources. While other consumers are a great source of opinion, they are not a source of fact. Food scientists, nutritionists, and other agriculture professionals are the people that can provide you with the best information regarding the nutrition and production of your food.

Some of my favorite resources are:

American Dairy Association- Northeast

Animal Agriculture Alliance

Beef Quality Assurance

Cattlemen’s Beef Board

Center for Disease Control and Prevention

DairyGood

Food Evolution

National Chicken Council

New York Animal Agriculture Coalition

Pork Checkoff

U.S. Food and Drug Administration
