Hey, I’m Molly!  Born and raised in New Hampshire, currently living in Syracuse, NY with my dog, Daisy, and boyfriend, Connor. I can often be found curled up with a good book and a glass of red wine. Or watching some sort of british period drama. I love craft beer, being outside, exploring a new running route, and spending time with my family. I’m a pretty serious introvert whose biggest fear is small talk, but getting lost in a great conversation with someone is one of my favorite things. I love to learn and listen to people talk about the things that they’re passionate about.

I grew up down the street from a horse farm, where I spent literally all of my time. While other high school girls were at the mall or sports practice or dances, I could always be found in blue jeans and my ratty Boston Red Sox hat hanging out with my horse. It was this love of horses that led me to Cazenovia College, where I met some of my very best friends and found out a whole lot more about myself. I also discovered a passion for agriculture and the people who have dedicated their lives to providing food and resources to a rapidly growing population.

It was shortly after college, sitting in a little cottage on the coast of southern Ireland (yea, I know, but this is really how it happened) complaining about how out of shape I was, that my cousin, Meghan, convinced me to sign up for a half marathon in the fall. She promised to make me a cute training planning that would include stickers and Sour Patch kid rewards (the watermelon ones, obv). Since then I’ve run 3 half marathons, a hand full of 5ks and 10ks, and have my eyes on a marathon in the next few years. It’s certainly a great way to stay active, but it’s also a sport I’ve become really passionate about.

When I told my close friends and family I was thinking about starting a blog, they all (logically) asked what it would be about. To which I still have no answer. But what I can tell you is why I started it. (Big Simon Sinek fan, always thinking about the why, but rarely thinking about the how). When I was finishing up my master’s degree a few years ago I decided I might like to start free-lance writing for some extra income (hey, student loans). I had looked into it a few times but was a little unsure of how and where to start and more importantly what I could write about. I’ve always loved to read and write and edit, but I have a hard time considering myself an expert in anything.

I sat on that idea for a few years, and then this summer Emily Abbate, host of Hurdle Podcast and a huge Instagram icon of mine, offered an online Intro to Freelance Writing session. I signed up right away. One of the many great tips she shared was to create a platform for yourself and your work. So here we are. I’ve told myself I’m going to commit to writing something for this space at least once a week. I’m not sure it will lead to a successful freelance career, but my hope is that someone stumbles across it and gets something useful out of it. And most importantly I hope it serves as a space for me to strengthen my writing muscles and become comfortable with sharing my work.

So while I can’t tell you exactly what you’ll find here, I can promise it will be authentic. I certainly have no goals to become an influencer (props to you if that’s your thing, I hope you’re loving it). I struggled a lot with the idea of relying on social media and the way it’s allowed people to create a sort of censored look at their lives. However, I also see it as a great tool for people to connect and learn and share information. So my promise to you is what you find here will always be real and true to who I am. My goal isn’t to impress you, so if this isn’t for you, thanks for stopping by! But if you like what you read, I hope you’ll come back again!
